About Us

Off The Hook Jeweler was established by Captain Cory Mitchell and wife Barbara. Cory's passion for the art of jewelry making began when he was 15 years old. As a young man he was taught monogramming by New Orlean's finest engravers. Capt. Cory enjoys a challenge to create pieces that have never been seen.  He has created special pieces for maritime men, their families and many friends not to mention special orders by Jewelry stores.

Because of his love for fishing, he has always wanted to create a piece especially for the sport fisherman. In the past year he has worked on creating the hooks that you see on this web site. After much trial and error, he has perfected his designs and has received a great responce from neighboring hunting and fishing enthusiast.

Capt. Cory presently works as a harbor tug Captain on the Mississippi River. Before his father retired from his own charter fishing business,  Cory had worked part time as a charter fishing captian in Louisiana. Capt. Cory, his wife Barbara and their son Cory, Jr resides in Daphne, Alabama. They moved to Daphne in September 2007 from Marrero, La. There eldest son Shawn lives in Hammond, La. and will begin nursing school  at Charity School of Nursing in August 2009 .
